Pioneer DJM-900SRT vs. DJM-900NXS + Serato SL interface? I decided to make the upgrade to 2000's after i found an irresistible deal. Sadly this past weekend a bit of haze juice dripped on my mixer causing the left channel, the function buttons and headphone jacks not to work so i guess its time for a new mixer. Since my last.
Remy - bro I'm telling you, there's very little difference in the effects...like non-critical differences. DJM900 has a couple different COLOR FX that the 850 doesn't have and vice versa. On the regular effects section, DJM900 has MELODIC but the 850 doesn't. However, the 850 has UP-ECHO while the 900 doesn't. Who uses MELODIC? I'd prefer the UP-ECHO instead. And then there's the X-Pad, which is basically a finger triggered strip that allows you to chop the beat parameters up much faster than pressing the left/right parameter buttons. And then some differences in the tactile feel of the knobs, like plastic vs rubber knobs. THAT'S IT!! The DJM mixer layout is so simple and logical to use, it's not like when DJ's went from the 57 to the 62 where all these new buttons and colors showed up. The DJM mixer layout has been virtually unchanged since the DJM500. If I were in your position and I could score a DJM850 for $900 versus a used DJM900NXS for around $1200, I'd choose the 850 ALL DAY! Then buy the SDJ Club Kit for $169 and you're still ahead in money spent. The only way I'd spend the difference in the price is if I REAAAAAALLLLLLY wanted the X-Pad, and so that's just really a user-preference decision. THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU WON'T KILL IT ON THE 900NXS BECAUSE YOU OWN A 850! Check this video at 5:25 mark for an explanation of the effects section differences. Watchwww.youtube.com
